Four of Five Wrong-Way Crashes in a Two Week Period in the Metro Atlanta Area Involved Alleged DUI's

On August 24, 2012, at approximately 10:30pm, 37 year old Beverly Lynne Wilkins, an Anesthesia Assistant and employee of Gwinnett Anesthesia Services who worked at Gwinnett Medical Center, is believed to have stopped at a gas station and self-administered two vials of propofol intravenously in her foot before getting behind the wheel and driving in the wrong direction in the westbound lanes of GA 316 for over three miles. There were at least ten 911 calls from concerned drivers who saw Wilkins driving in the wrong direction on GA 316, but the warning calls did not prevent Wilkins from crashing her 2007 Saturn Vue head-on into a 2012 Honda Civic occupied by five teens. Wilkins was injured, and all five teens in the Honda Civic were injured--with two of the teens listed in critical condition. According to investigators, an IV bag and needle were found in Wilkins' front seat and 12 vials of propofol were found in Wilkins' purse: all 12 vials of propofol are suspected stolen from Gwinnett Medical Center, and two of the 12 vials were empty. Propofol is the same drug that was implicated in the wrongful death of Michael Jackson in 2009.

On August 29, 2012, a wrong way crash occurred in south Fulton County when the driver of a pickup truck who was running from police in the northbound lanes of I-85 in the wrong direction, slammed head-on into an innocent driver of another truck that was carrying a single trailer. The wrong way driver died instantly, and the passenger of the truck that was hit died at the hospital.

GA 400 saw two Fatal Accidents From Wrong-Way Drivers

On August 24, 2012, 22 year old Carlyn Royball drove the wrong way up GA 400 and smashed her vehicle head-on into the vehicle driven by Kelly Stevens of the radio station B98.5. Stevens was injured and sustained several fractured bones, and Royball was killed in the accident. Toxicology reports have not come back yet on Royball to confirm the involvement of alcohol or drugs in the crash.

On the morning of August 15, 2012, there were two fatalities during a wrong-way crash. Frampere Ingle drove the wrong way in the northbound lane on GA 400 striking Eric Hanks' vehicle head-on. Hanks died at the scene of the accident, and later at Grady Memorial Hospital, Ingle passed away.

Most recently, on the morning of Saturday, September 1, 2012, another wrong way driver caused a head-on collision on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. Brittany Dutka traveled southbound in the northbound lanes and struck 42 year old Paula Holden's vehicle head-on, critically injuring Holden. Both drivers were taken to a local hospital where Holden remains in ICU. Dutka is alleged to have been driving under the influence of alcohol.

After being involved and a five car accident I contacted Casey Stevens law firm. I was given his number by a fellow coworker at my job who had used him in the past and was very satisfied with his services. The car accident included myself my husband and my son, the accident was determined to be the fault of two drivers involved in the accident. Casey personally came to my home the next day and said down with me and my family at the kitchen table and went over all the events of the accident. There were months and months of physical therapy, doctor visits injections and while my son had to have his mouth wired after having his jaw broke in three places. Casey and his staff worked continuously on our case and after it was all said and done, they where able to get us over $300,000 in damages. I really want to Thank Casey Stevens and his staff for always being available for phone calls and answering any questions I might have. I will continue to recommend potential clients to Casey Stevens law firm. Nina F
